Walk Spain and Visit Romania’s Children
As most of you know, I support a group that works with the children of Romania, Tanner Romanian Mission. They have taken in and adopted some of Romania’s abandoned, orphaned children, and given them love, a home, schooling and family. Sandie Tanner, one of the amazing founders, just sent me this enticing email, and I wanted to send it out to you all, in case anyone wanted to participate.
WALK CAMINO DE SANTIAGO, SPAIN AND HELP RAISE FUNDS FOR SPEECH/PHYSICAL THERAPISTS for ROMANIAN CHILDREN
In May 2008 join us as we walk the last 11 days of the Camino de Santiago, a magnificent route through the rolling green hills and small hamlets of northwestern Spain’s Galicia. The crown jewel of Spanish walking trails, the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela began as an act of faith as Europeans crossed Spain to visit the sacred tomb of Saint James. One thousand years later, the Camino continues to draw the spiritual as well as the traveler looking to enjoy the beauty of Spain. The outstanding food and the company of other ‘pilgrims’ from all over the world only adds to the unique nature of a trip like this. After 11 days of walking through the beautiful Spanish countryside and getting to know the other international hikers on your team you will spend a night in Santiago de Compostela. Santiago de Compostela is a magical city filled with fantastic monuments and with a lively buzz from the international pilgrims and university students that fill its medieval streets. After our stay in Spain we will fly to Bucharest, Romania to visit the orphans your funds will assist. We will travel outside of Bucharest to the Galeti district where we all shall stay for 2 nights while we visit disabled kids in 4 Christian group homes. The funds raised from this trip will pay for a speech therapist and a physical therapist for these very deserving children. After our farewell dinner we will return to Bucharest to catch our connecting flights home. Join us as we embark on an adventure through Spain and Romania.
