The Austin Women’s Conference & Show, a one-day conference meant to inspire and empower local women to lead at work, at home and in life, has released its lineup of keynote speakers for the Nov. 2 event.

Carson Kressley of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" fame,
motivational speaker Dr. Christiane Northrup, Austin musician Sara Hickman
and artist Brian Olsen will all speak at the Austin Convention Center for
the inaugural conference, said Lisa Sullivan, vice president of marketing
for the Statesman Co.

Thousands of attendees are expected to learn about topics related to work-life
balance, personal finance, entrepreneurship and spiritual growth. Live
entertainment and shopping at more than 200 booths will be available in an
area called Shop Central.

"We really want to do something for Central Texas women that will help
them," Sullivan said. "This is an opportunity for Central Texas
women to gather, network and see how they can make their lives better."

The Austin conference will be produced by the Statesman Co., which publishes
the Austin American-Statesman, and is not affiliated with the Texas
Conference for Women, which was started by Anita Perry 12 years ago and moved to Houston in 2008.

Northrup, the author of two best-selling books, "Women’s Bodies, Women’s
Wisdom" and "The Wisdom of Menopause," will discuss "Choosing
Hope, Health and Joy" as part of her keynote speech. Kressley, a
well-known stylist and television host, has planned to start a new makeover
show, "Carson-Nation" for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN Network. He will
discuss self-image and building confidence during his lunchtime keynote
address.

The event is the first of its kind for the Statesman, which produces about 100
local events each year.
